House Engel
Engel family house in Bad Hersfeld (Germany)
This low-energy use house is made of wooden structures. Installed in the building is an advanced energy saving system: the water is heated in solar collectors set up on an adjacent land parcel, and fed into a 900-liter storage cistern. Water from the “water jacket” of the fireplace, mounted in the living room, is also fed into this cistern. The low-temperature heating system uses this water from the storage cistern.
The air-tightness of the structure, before the finishing work started, was verified by the Blower Door Test method. The Aereco controlled ventilation system is utilized. The fireplace has sealed doors and harnesses outside air.
Inter-floor coverings are made of massive glued-wood beams, laid horizontally. This solution is not only functional, but also aesthetic.
The ventilated facade is decorated with untreated Siberian larch and aluminum.
The house was designed and built in 1999-2000 by the Hausbauplus Bureau. All stages of the design and supervision: A. Al-Samarrai, D. Kats.
